Catigbian packaged for lakbay-aral spot

Increased influx of visitors from other provinces and local government units hinted the municipal government of Catigbian to package the town as a lakbay-aral destination in terms of best practices in local governance and development initiatives. For this week alone, seven different groups from Cebu province and Bohol- -barangay officials Elijan, Tubigon headed by Barangay Captain Jaime Mante; officials from the town of Sibonga, Cebu headed by Mayor Leonil Bacaltos, PN Batch '72; barangay officials of San Roque, Cortes headed by Barangay Captain Virgilio Tasong; Barangay officials, BALA, agriculture technicians of San Roque, Cortes; and Alburquerque Mayor Cirilo Jalad; visitors from Dimiao, Bohol coop members assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform visited the town.

They came to observe the operation of the best pamilihan with color-coded sectioning, the digital weighing scale of large and small ruminants in the Livestock Auction Market, the newly renovated Municipal Hall that it is spotlessly clean and tastefully unique in its set up. The people's hall also houses the smiling and accommodating personnel, the air-conditioned people's lounge for taxpayers and guests comfort. The visiting groups also visited the Pick and Pay Demonstration Farm, where they bought fresh vegetables right from the garden at a low cost.

The newly constructed P14-million Municipal Health Center with Lying-In Clinic located at barangay Poblacion Weste just along the town's main road and national highway also gained interest. The newly-established Material Recovery Facility (MRF) located in barangay Haguilanan along the national highway has always been the favorite last stop of visitors. This facility that serves as the segregating site of locally-generated wastes, attracts visitors because of its unique set-up that complied the Solid Waste Management Program of the National government. The process and flow of producing organic fertilizer is evident in the area. Organic vegetables that are produced from a six -plot garden are also available for sale.
