Notorious robbery gang member falls Wanted man evades arrest since 1980

 

A long wanted fugitive and believed to be a member of a notorious robbery gang operating in Cagayan Oro City and neighboring Misamis Oriental municipalities was captured in a joint police operations in Poblacion, Jagna town Friday. For his capture, the wanted person has a bounty of P170,000. Police are checking the background of Exequiel Dayo Aniscal alias Ekil, 50, widower, and a resident of San Vicente, Maribojoc town. He was arrested in Poblacion, Jagna town where a sister identified as Georgia Aniscal took up residence. Evading arrest since 31 years ago, he was collared in Jagna after police tipped off his presence when the fugitive was said to have attended the annual town last Sept. 28. Police are investigating alleged links of Aniscal to a robbery gang operating in Region 10.

Police sources said, while on the lam, Ekil was a member of a robbery gang operating in the region. Police are also checking reports if he was connected with the notorious Kuratong Baleleng armed group. As to whether he has other pending warrants in his base of operations while on the run, police are also checking this possibility. Proving to be an elusive quarry, the Maribojoc native was wanted for robbery with homicide on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued in 1980 by then Regional Trial Court Judge Andres Santos. No details were available of this crime he was wanted of. Further investigations showed that he had also a standing warrant for murder issued by then Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge (MCTC) Presiding Judge Agapito Hontanosas, Jr. of Branch. No other details were also available of this crime he was probably guilty of.

When arrested, the long wanted person yielded in his possession a black shoulder bag and a car key. The key was later found to be that of a car owned by her sister. When opened, the shoulder bag showed a professional driver’s in the name of one Michael Aniscal of Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, used pre-paid Globe cell cards, and an identification card of Gen. Lisandro Lavadia (rert), chairman of the board of the Philvidec Industrial Authority, one Nokia cell phone, another cell phone Sony Erickson brand and other personal belongings. After being tipped off of his presence in Jagna town, a combined police team led by Police Chief Inspector Jovito Atanacio swooped down on his lair and arrested the long wanted person. He did not resist arrest. The other members of the arresting team were PC! Rene Kyamko, PSI George Badon, PSI Ramoncelio Sawan, PI Jojit Manaquil and an a member of the Maribojoc police identified as PI Enrique Asonio.
