Trinidad to launch many eco-tourism attractions

TRINIDAD. – As tourism is booming in this northern agriculturally-rich town with the town a eyeing a fair share in the industry particularly in the field of extreme adventure another tourist destination. Officials here led by Mayor Roberto C. Cajes bared that his town is to unveil what could be  a many-splendored-eco-tourism park with Batongay Cave as its flagship project. But first things first, said Ms. Bebie Cajes, his better half and former mayor, pointing to the on-going construction of the long and winding concrete stairs high on top of the hill. Along the way are concrete crosses being built and intended for those who wish to do the way of the cross as timely as this season. The lady Cajes said that not too long ago, they used to have this practice every holy week without the concrete staircase to the top.

But the Cajes administration decided to build this for easy access for the residents and visitors alike. Once on top, overlooking panoramic view of plains and crops and forest towards Ubay town or as far as eyes can see is just awesome, and of course, feel fresh air. Plans are also afoot to build a zip-line or cable car across another hilltop of a few hundred meters away that may be potential also for rappelling and other applicable extreme adventure in tourism. Mayor Cajes is amenable to the idea of putting up of facilities for the visitors, including clean toilets and probably, function room and inn like facilities and other amenities to cater the visitors. Officials here also favor this considering that the more tourists stay the more they spend and the more it generates revenues and the more it provides employment opportunities for its residents.

The town boasts of its multi-chambered Batongay cave with a lot of entrance and exits. It is also ideal for family for wholesome tour since there’s a portion of the cave for children’s spelunking experience. And importantly and experience how the cave is preserved with stinging smell of fresh material guano and observe how bats hang themselves or hover over head. But there’s a lot to be done, Ms. Bebie Cajes pointed out. But at least they started it hopefully carry it on to realization.
