The New Local

When the genuineness of political leaders is being questioned, people in the world over the years are becoming more and more uninspired by their governments and distrustful of their political leaders. Poverty, unemployment, corruption, and other complex issues mark politicians as failures in the eyes of the people.Underperformance, lack of economic prospects, corruptions and double standards, removed peoples’ trust and support that resulted to street actions. In countries with rising markets and advanced economies, people expect more from their leaders and governments. But most societies lack clear moral standard in their religion and established values. According tothe Global Agenda Council, the world today lacks international leadership as model of development and progress due to the erosion of American power and the European crisis. This awareness of the shortcomings of international leadership created “the new local” that forces problematic local leaders of countries and regions to solve directly their domestic conflicts and issues locally, rather than waiting for international leaders to step in. Globalisation is no longer the accepted unifier that drives global markets. In the world of the “the new local,”political leaders will be occupied and focused on national agendaswith very little attention to foreign policies and issues like climate change, globalised trade, and nuclear control. According to the Global Agenda Council there is a de globalisation of geopolitical risk. As local leaders learn to find localized solutions to their problems they willbe able to move forward to the right direction of progress.

Tidbits:

Spacecraft and telescopes are not built by people interested in what’s going on at home. But that changed when NASA created the Landsat program, a series of satellites looking not out or up, but down, monitoring the human species of the planet.
