For taking cudgel of his partner businessman gets slap, handcuff

For taking the cudgels of his business partner, a prominent businessman was slapped and then handcuffed by an NBI agent carrying out a raid of a known shabu supplier along Gallares St., this city. The house of Levi Baseleres y Caballo alias Boy, 57, married, was raided early morning of Thursday on the strength of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Suseso Arcamo on the basis that he had in his possession and control in his residence in Gallares St., Poblacion II, this city, methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as shabu. Carried out by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation Region VII led by lawyer Bernard de la Cruz, the raiding team, composed of two others, searched the residence of Baseleres and found nothing.

Baseleres who was the object of two lightning raids in the past involving local lawmen has since been lying low in his drug operations according to businessman Eduardo “Boy” Enerio prompting the later to take him as a partner to a flourishing flea market business along J.S. Torralba St., this city. But it was Enerio's word against the belief of the NBI agents who swooped down on the Baseleres residence along Gallares St. Thursday morning. Thinking that he was still in his old business of drug trading, the NBI applied a search warrant although the operations yielded negative results. Baseleres is out on bail for drug peddling.

Enerio got the ire of the team leader of the raiding team when he went to the Baseleres residence at the time of the raid. While the raid was going on, Enerio was overheard to have said “Bantay bay tingale dropan ka kay nahitabo nana nako”.(Beware pal, you might be planted (with the prohibited substance)as what happens to me). Enerio was the subject of a recent raid by intelligence operatives based in Cebu City but a lab test by forensic investigators showed that what was seized in the operations was nothing but “tawas” or aluminum chloride earning him the naughty moniker “Boy Tawas”. For making the unsolicited advice to his business partner, Enerio irked the team leader of the Baseleres raid who happens to be a lawyer. Without much ado, Enerio was allegedly slapped by lawyer de la Cruz and then put him in a handcuff to silence him for good because accounts during the operations showed that the businessman was making unsavory remarks while the raid was going on.
