DECISIVE LEADERSHIP

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the opening of the 69th United Nations General Assembly, called for “decisive leadership,” among the 193 nation leaders assembled. We are witnessing today that crises increase and disease spreads in the world, it is disturbing to behold and our ability to hope is darkened. Decisive action and straight discussion from our world leaders are needed to stop brutal crimes, outbreak of diseases, attack on international law and basic human rights.

“Leadership is precisely about finding the seeds of hope and nurturing them into something bigger. That is our duty today. “Ban Ki-moon said.Today we face far more man-made crises than natural calamities, who else but man is also responsible for securing peace and justice in the world. Accordingly, never before has the UN been asked to reach so many people with emergency food assistance and other life-saving supplies. Unless these crises are addressed what can we leave to our children but war, poverty and ignorance. Hope may be hard to see but still we have to hope specially to God who controls everything.

Tidbits:

The United Nations Security Council resolution on confronting the danger of foreign fighters in Iraq and Syria is binding for member states. But successful implementation will depend on the anti-terrorism laws and powers of individual countries. Member states must stop individuals believed to be "foreign terrorist fighters" from crossing their borders, must stop and ban funding or facilitating such individuals, must prosecute, rehabilitate and reintegrate "returning foreign fighters" and must stop "recruiting, organising, transporting or equipping" anyone going abroad for terrorist acts or training.
