1 die, 80 down in Loon epidemic

The corridors and hallways of the Natalio Castillo Hospital in Loon town were filled to capacity as of last night as a water epidemic hit seven barangays striking ill more than 80 persons most of them children and claiming the life of one victim. The hospital has a 25- bed capacity. As soon as he learned about the mass hospitalization, Gov. Erico Aumentado swung into action and sent Dr. Reymosis Cabagnot to look into the incident. Dr. Celestina de la Serna, hospital chief. identified the lone fatality as Lea Lampara, three years old of Cogon Norte, Loon town. Full story

Whatever happens to Dumaluan's suspension?

Panglao was all agog when news of the alleged suspension of its mayor Doloriech Dumaluan hit the TV screens and radio airlanes last week. But where's the suspension order. All week, from Mayor Dumaluan to V-Mayor Pedro Fuertes to the entire staff of the Department of Interior and Local Government provincial office were looking for copies of the elusive suspension order. ULAP, LPP concerned over chief executives' “massacre”

THE Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) and the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) both headed by Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado expressed concern over the dismissal or suspension of local government chief executives. Calling the spate of dismissals and suspensions a “massacre” of local elective officials, Aumentado, in a press statement issued yesterday said “the timing is unfortunately highly questionable because the decisions were rendered and implemented during the election period."-- Full story

Battle of 2 inaanaks of GMA looms in gubernatorial fight
A very popular governor who is the president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Phils. was beaten to the draw in the filing of certificate of candidacy by a candidate who claims to be the inaanak or god son of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Not only that Marjun Magat jumped the gun on Gov. Erico Aumentado, he also challenged the incumbent provincial executive in a one-on-one electoral combat in the May 2007 polls. If the plans of the two protagonists will not go haywire, the gubernatorial fight will pit two inaanaks of the lady President. Magat has been claiming to all those who care to listen of his GMA connection that he is a godson of the President. Full story

City legislature supports province's buy back plan

THE Tagbilaran City Council approved en masse during on Wednesday's session a resolution supporting the provincial government's plan to reacquire Bohol Light Company, Inc. (BLCI) and Bohol Water Utilities, Inc.(BWUI) from Salcon Consortium. The resolution was passed to support Provincial Board Resolution 2006-615, which authorized the Governor, Gov.. Erico Aaumentado, to lead the team of negotiators to “ commence formal negotiation” with Salcon Consortium, and reach terms and agreement that best benefit the province's of consumers. Full story
