Whistle blower NIA contractor?

The 165-M DAM SCAM IN TALIBON

The scuttlebutt in the construction circle these days is that of a whistle blower of a multi-million scam in the National Irrigation Administration in Talibon becoming part of the action as a contractor. This ticklish development cropped up last week after at least two contractors confirmed to the Post that Engr. Nilo Sarigumba, the crusading individual who blew the whistle on the P165 million Small Reservoir Impounding Project (SRIP) in Talibon was given a construction job right in the project he exposed. Carmen 8 requests guv to recall suspension order

The eight Carmen town officials led by Mayor Pedro Budiongan Jr. have requested Gov. Erico Aumentado to recall or suspend the implementation of the suspension order issued by the Sandiganbayan's Fourth Division. Aside from Budiongan, the other officials named as accused in the case are Vice Mayor Josil Trabajo, Councilors Rufino Adlaon, Tito Montajes, Mario Soria and Carlito Torrefranca, Municipal Budget Officer Taciana Espejo and Municipal Treasurer Fulgencio Pana. Swertres financier nabbed in Clarin

A small-time financier was arrested in Clarin town as pressure mounted on the police to stop the illegal numbers game that is increasingly becoming popular in the province. The suspect was identified as one Bonifacio Doblas Quiño, of legal age and a resident of Barangay Nahawan, Clarin town. Quiño was arrested during a raid conducted in the evening of Aug. 1. SP amends children's entry ban in bars and nightclubs
IN an expected move, the Sangguniang Panlungsod has amended an ordinance banning children's entry to amusement places via an ordinance that legislators see would stop kids from entering nigh clubs, disco, resto videoke bars and similar establishments of amusement and entertainment. Full story
