Condemn killing of Ka Victor

Boholanos denounced the shooting, which came as a big blow to the advancing peace situation in the province. Dumaluan to comply with Cease and Desist Order

Embattled Panglao Mayor Doloreich Dumaluan last week formally manifested that he will comply with the cease-and-desist order (CDO) issued against him by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Dumaluan made the formal offer in a manifestation that he made before the Region 7 Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). The manifestation, dated Sept. 5, was filed before the EMB-7 in connection with the case lodged against Dumaluan for operating the Dumaluan Beach Resort without an environmental compliance certificate (ECC). The killing happened exactly five days after Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak-led Local Peace Forum (LPF) passed three resolutions advancing the peace situation in a forum in Tagbilaran City. Last Saturday, the LPF discussed revolutionary taxes, peace talks and political killings, issues raised by militant groups who claim they are in a military hit list. Full story

JBC campaigns for judge-applicants
THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) – the council mandated to review and screen applications for positions in the judiciary – visited Bohol for the first time Tuesday to conduct a dialogue with various sectors in Central Visayas and to interview applicants for judgeship. “Bohol is privileged to have Justice Regino Hermosisima Jr. and his team in the light of the fact that we lack judges in the Municipal Circuit Trial Courts [MCTCs] and prosecutors – especially that aside from in Tagbilaran City, the Regional Trial Courts [RTCs] here are spread in Talibon, Carmen and Loay towns,” Gov. 53 paravets from 2 towns get retraining certificates
TAGBILARAN City – BOHOL'S livestock program earned new volunteers as 53 newly reoriented Barangay Livestock Aides (BALA) or para-veterinarians took their certificates of completion in different training venues recently. In Loboc town, re-trained 28 Balas saddled the training last July 27-28 at the Farmers Information Training Services Building. While in Sierra Bullones, 33 Balas completed the intensive undertaking August 2-3 at the Multi Purpose Training Center at the Municipal Building. Full story
