No overprice in aircon deal

Provincial Legal Officer Handel Lagunay the other day minced no words in shooting down another fabricated story that there was overprice in the purchase of air conditioning units for the Bohol Cultural Center. Lagunay was reacting to a story that came out in a local paper alleging that the air-conditioning project overshot its budget, that its price has ballooned to P5 million: P3,757,660 for the units plus P1.3 million advanced to the Bohol Light Co., Inc. (BLCI) for energization. But Lagunay pointed out that the paper itself itemized the air-con costs to total P3.4 million only. Full story

SC turns over “courtbus” to Bohol

BOHOL became the second recipient of only three World Bank-funded “courtbuses” nationwide with the turnover of one Friday by Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban in rites held at the Hall of Justice at the New Capitol Site in Tagbilaran City. The bus forms part of the Supreme Court's Wheels on Justice Project – one of the many reforms it intends to put in place. On top of the bus, Panganiban also hinted that Bohol may get a stationary courthouse next year after Gov. Erico Aumentado posed the challenge. Full story

Filipino seaman gets “life” For murdering Boholano

Verdict in England

JUSTICE came rather quickly for the family of slain Boholano seaman who was hammered to death, on board a luxury cruiser in England last May. The murderer, another Filipino seaman has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a royal court in England , in a decision that may account as record time, if it were tried in the Philippines.  Full story

3 armed cue players rob, rape daughter
THREE armed, drunk young cue payers robbed the couple owning the billiard and raped their 15 – year – old daughter in San Miguel near midnight on Wednesday, October 11, in yet two or more serious crimes further defining Bohol's notoriety in Central Visayas. Meanwhile, the unwed teenaged mother in Talibon who half – Buried alive her one - day – old baby boy late last month has turned out to be a rape victim, too. Full story

STATE-OWNED Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is opening an investment financing program that will further help entrepreneurs address their business expansion requirements.
