701st PMG: the country's best

BOHOL-based 701st Provincial Mobile Group (PMG) is the country's Best Provincial Mobile Group for CY 2006. The Bohol PMG, led by group director, P/SInsp Magdaleno Bartolome Mendez Jr, got it with its outstanding performance in police administration and operations. Such, the evaluating team said contributes to the attainment of the overall mission and objective of the Philippine National Police.

An evaluation and validation team from the National Police Headquarters in Camp Crame headed by Chief Supt Ereno Bacolod, Deputy Directorate for Personnel and Records Management got here last December 22, 2006. The team validated the group's accomplishments, resources, current activities, plans and programs as well as their problems. A Camp Crame based Internal Affairs Service team initially inspected the group in August 2006.

Criteria for the Best PMG includes appearance and discipline of personnel, records management, Internal Security Operations (ISO), Anti-Criminality and Administrative accomplishments, skills, knowledge and capability of personnel as well as the appearance and cleanliness of the office and its facilities.

The Evaluation Team also subjected Bohol PMG to a battery of tests.

An Operational Readiness Security Inspection Test Evaluation (ORSITE) was done to measure preparedness respond to emergencies, Immediate Action Drill (IAD), Arrest techniques, search and seizure, conduct of checkpoints, close quarter battle drill (CQB), hostage taking negotiation and investigation, scene of the crime operations (SOCO) and Firearms Proficiency and Marksmanship firing.

The men's mastery of Basic Police Knowledge proved handy during the rank inspection when they were asked the basic police functions, mission, vision and other related matters. The briefing presentation rendered by PSInsp Mendez on the highlights of accomplishments and other related matters of the unit greatly impressed the NHQ PNP Field Validation and Evaluation Team.

The award was received by PSInsp Mendez from no less than Pres. Gloria Arroyo last January 31, 2007 at Camp Crame on the occasion of the 16th PNP Anniversary Celebration. Assisting the president were DILG Sec. Ronaldo Puno and P/Director General Oscar Calderon, CPNP. The 701st PMG Best PMG of the Year nationwide is a first achievement that would be etched in the pages of Camp Dagohoy 's history. The Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) also awarded the 701st PMG a plaque of recognition during its regular monthly PPOC meeting on February 12, 2007 at Bohol Tropics Resort, this city. Gov. Erico Aumentado, chair of the PPOC handed the award.
