INABANGA – The festive atmosphere abrought about by the fiesta celebration here was marred when a policeman was shot dead in Barangay Cagayan. Sr. Insp. Lorenzo Batuan, chief of police, led a team composed of SPO1 Cristobal Erojo, PO3 Herminigildo Abella, PO3 Edwin Melicor and two elements of the Regional Mobile Group (RMG) augmentation to investigate. At the Shrine in Cagayan, the team found SPO1 Inocencio Mar alias Jojo, 46, married, of nearby Barangay Lapacan Norte bloodied and lying face down on the pavement. They rushed Mar to the Francisco Dagohoy Municipal Hospital (FDMH) but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, during a hot pursuit operation, the police arrested one of the suspects identified as Joselito Taghoy alias LItoy, 24, single, of Barangay Rufo Hill in adjacent Buenavista town. He is now confined at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City because of a gunshot wound in his leg. The other suspect, Modesto Diacor, Jr. alias Onyol, 22, single, also of Rufo Hill is still at large. Initial investigation showed that Taghoy was apparently after Mar's cellphone.
