TBTK youth gathering ‘06: adventure awaits for young Boholanos from around the globe

ADVENTURE AWAITS for the participants of the Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) Youth Gathering 2006. Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation (SKPF) president Frances Bobbith Cajes-Auza with SKPF Chief of Staff Chris John Torralba spearheaded the planning and preparation of the five-day activity to highlight the fun and adventure available in the province. The five-day celebration will start on July 24 and shall run until July 28 this year. This year's celebration is designed to expose the participants to the Boholano experience of fun and adventure, at the same time dedicate service for the community.

 

First Day (Monday, July 24)

The youth gathering begins on July 24, Monday, with a welcome party and a Barrio Fiesta at the Governor's Mansion in Tagbilaran City. An ultimate adventure is waiting at the Abatan river in Maribojoc town. The Abatan Adventure Extreme features the potential adventure package suited for the emerging tourist hob, the Abatan River . The adventure includes kayaking, rappelling and rope traverse. A Basketball Exhibition Game between the TBTK Balikbayan Team and the SK Bohol Team is another exciting activity to happen on the first day.

Second Day (Tuesday, July 25)

TBTK Youth Gathering '06 is also designed to promote awareness and the social responsibility of the youth in the safe keeping and advocacy of the environment. Thus, the Bio-Diversity Challenge at the Camp Magsaysay , Rajah Sikatuna Protected Landscape, Bilar, Bohol is the highlight of the second day. The challenged shall run for the whole day specifically designed to meet objective to raise awareness and concern of the Boholano youth on Environmental issues and protection.

Third Day (WEDNESDAY, JULY 26)

The youth gathering also hoped to encourage the sense of community service among the participants. The third day is highlighted by two activities designed to meet the objective. A volunteer work at the Habitat for Humanity in Totolan, Dauis, Bohol , and a Feeding and Gift Giving Program at a chosen elementary school in Tagbilaran City are being prepared. The youth participants from abroad have confirmed their interest to bring to Bohol some school supplies and other novelty items as gifts.

Fourth Day (THURSDAY, JULY 27)

Another new experience is set on the morning of the fourth day. In coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) the participants shall dedicated time to plang mangrove seedlings in a chosen site. On the afternoon of the same day is the Alona Amazing Beach Challenge where the participants shall face the challenge along the pearly white beach stretch of Alona Beach in Tawala, Panglao, Bohol . A series of challenges shall be experienced by the participants as they hop from one challenge station to another. The stations are strategically placed along the coastline so that the participants can go around the Alona Beach .

Fifth Day (FRIDAY, JULY 28)

Aimed to encourage cooperation among young Boholanos around the globe, the fifth day is dedicated for the First Bohol International Youth Summit. The summit shall be designed to tackle certain youth issues that should pave the way to a possible youth network of Boholanos anywhere they be in glove. Three more weeks to go!
