Chatto, Jala for Con-ass; Cajes voted for Concon
…but no Chacha for ULAP, LPP

THE Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) and the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) will not dance the Chacha anymore. The stand is contained in a press statement Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado issued yesterday. “ULAP and LPP are in unison with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's decision to stop any move for Constitutional change (Chacha) including the calling for a Constitutional convention (Con-con),” he said. Top church dignitaries in Medroso installation

IN a rare solemn gathering of church leaders witnessing a highly symbolic rite, Vatican Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines , Archbishop Fernando Filoni led 24 bishops, more than two hundred priests, religious and laity to celebrate the canonical possession of the Diocese of Tagbilaran by Bishop Leonardo Y. Medroso, December 13. Archbishop Filoni personally carried the papal bull from Pope Benedict XVI to the newly appointed bishop of the Diocese who was from the Archdiocese of Palo in Leyte. The Vatican liaison also handed to Bishop Medroso the pastoral staff symbolic of his take-over in shepherding the Christian community here while accompanying him to his new cathedra, effecting the canonical possession. Seaman awarded P1.3 million for illegal dismissal at NLRC

The National Labor Relations Commission in Tagbilaran City has awarded a total of P1,309,404 in damages and attorney's fees to a seaman from Dimiao town after the labor agency decided a complaint against a crewing agency. The case was for illegal dismissal, payment of salaries and other benefits corresponding to the remainder of the employment contract, damages and attorney's fees. Full story

P25M fire razes Talibon market
TALIBON – FIRE caused by an electrical short circuit inside the Talibon Public Market razed to the ground a total of 253 market stalls in Bohol 's most recent fire incident. According to fire investigators, witnesses said they observed flickering of the market lights prior to the incident at 1:45 December 9. Eleven responding firetrucks from nearby towns including the ones from the city took strategic posts in fighting the fire which has raged into a blazing inferno minutes after the alarms were razed. Strong winds spawned by tropical storm Seniang added to the firemen's worries and sped up the spread of the fire. Full story

Capitol to give P2.5 M for cooperatives, POs

TO spur its poverty reduction program further, Bohol Provincial Capitol, through governor Erico Aumentado is giving out a total of P 2.5 million worth of checks as financial assistance to 25 cooperatives and People's Organizations (PO) on December 18, 2006 at Acacia Garden, Capitol grounds. The Bohol Poverty Reduction Management Office (BPRMO) recommended the Capitol assistance and forms an early Christmas package, which the receiving organization can immediately use to prop up its projects. Capitol allocates P13.6M for “extra cash” windfall

QUALIFIED Capitol employees and officials would be P10T richer as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved last Friday P13.6 million for the extra cash gift. The windfall grant was contained in a letter of Gov. Erico Aumentado forwarded to SP last week after the approval of an Ordinance appropriating P13.6 million for the bonus. This is aside from the usual P5,000 cash gift and 13th month pay bonus (equivalent to one month salary) that each employee will receive at the end of every year. Full story
