Guv's credible opponent still in the womb of time

Unless it will assume the role of Lazarus who will rise from the dead, any mode to amend the fundamental law of the law is as good as dead. That's why talk of elections in May 2007 is now in everybody's lips. And how lucky some people can get. Take the case of incumbent Gov. Erico Aumentado. He may be smarting from defeat as a result from ULAP's misadventure with the Sigaw ng Bayan in the People's Initiative fiasco but the Bohol governor is still as bankable as ever given his reelection bid. As of now, nobody can hold a candle to beat Aumentado in a one-on one gubernatorial combat. If there's anybody credible enough to say he will give the incumbent a run of his money, he is still in the womb of time. His favorite enemy whom he trounced for two times in convincing fashion has vowed never again.

Former governor Rene Relampagos would rather try his luck in the third district as a congressional aspirant rather than run the risk of tangling again with his two-time tormentor. During Marcos time, he boasted of his Solid North. With Marcos gone, the reincarnation of the Solid North is made popular with Gov. Aumentado claiming his own political bailiwick in Bohol 's northern towns. During the two previous elections, Aumentado's opponent tasted premature poll victory when results from some town in the third and first districts came in early. There were even speculations that Aumentado would lose in that elections. But wait till the Solid North votes arrived. Arrived they did, and the votes from Ubay, Talibon, Getafe , Buenavista and Inabanga came in and the elections were never the same again. Yes, Mike, those are the towns that Aumentado can count as his Solid North. Is there anyone who can beat that?
